KT / Wheelmaster HD Alloy Coaster Brake Service BulletinUpdated 4 months ago

SUBJECT

The KT / Wheelmaster Heavy Duty Alloy Coaster Brake Hub, sold to dealers between February 25 and August 16, 2022, either as a hub or a complete bike, was manufactured with a clutch spring that does not engage the clutch spring holder with sufficient resistance, causing it to slip during braking. This issue can lead to reduced braking efficiency, pedal engagement problems, and unusual noises from the hub. To resolve this problem, the Clutch Spring Assembly must be replaced.

PROBLEM

The end of the Clutch Spring, where it connects to the Clutch Spring Holder, may become stretched or deformed during the initial factory assembly, resulting in a less-than-secure fit.

SYMPTOMS

When the brake is applied, the Clutch Spring can rotate slightly on the Clutch Spring Holder before fully engaging the brake. This can result in reduced braking efficiency, pedal engagement issues, or unusual noises from the hub.
